As the third SEAT SUV to be launched at the end of this year in the UK, the #SEATseekingName campaign was the founder of the Tarraco name, uniquely suited to the creative design.
As the first-ever SEAT car with its name chosen by public vote, the all-new model will be named after the Mediterranean city of Tarragona after over 146,000 SEAT fans voted from a total of 134 countries. The name perfectly reflects the culture, history and liveliness which embodies the SEAT brand.
The new SEAT SUV Tarraco won the competition convincingly after picking up 35.52% of the overall vote. The brand-new model will seat up to seven passengers, completing the award-winning range of 13 SEAT models: Ronda, Ibiza, Malaga, Marbella, Toledo, Inca, Alhambra, Cordoba, Arosa, Leon, Altea and the latest two SUV models, the Ateca and the New Arona.
SEAT boss Luca de Meo announced during the last annual SEAT press conference that the new SUV will start a ‘new design cycle,’ creating a more emotional and sporty design, in interior and exterior.
Spacious and practical, yet innovative and sporty, the new Tarraco is set to spin the SUV expectation on its head, with practicality met by edge. The model that is set to be revealed later in 2018 will combat the Ford Edge, Hyundai Samar Fe, Kia Sorento, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Peugeot 5008 and Renault Koleos.
