Miller and Middleton 2017 Review

2017 has been a break out year for all of us here at Miller and Middleton. This is not just down to the incredible work all of our Colchester team have carried out, but the innovative and revolutionary year SEAT have had as a whole.

The year began with the SEAT Ateca and Leon winning What Car? awards, the Ateca managed to win the best small SUV category at its first attempt and the Leon celebrated being crowned Family Car ‘Best Buy’ (£18,000 - £20,000). This incredible achievement set the tone for the year with the victorious cars taking the spotlight in our showroom.

Following this, SEAT announced that they were becoming the sponsors for the Superbike World Championships. The Leon CUPRA, the most powerful model in SEAT’s history with 300 PS, became the official safety car of the championship. This opportunity allowed SEAT to showcase their superior combination of raw engineering capabilities with sleek and sophisticated design.

Continuing the theme of showcasing their revolutionary craft, SEAT then went on to unveil the simply brilliant all-new Ibiza. The new model made its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 and became the star attraction across all SEAT showrooms, including ours. The July release saw the model's popularity rocket winning multiple awards and reaching record sales.

However, as the focus on the all-new Ibiza grew, the success of the SEAT Ateca also continued to increase as the car picked up the Best Crossover in the UK Car of the Year awards managing to beat other well-established models including the Ford KUGA and the Range Rover. Nevertheless, the Ateca was not finished there; the model went on to be named Best Mid-Size SUV at the Fleet News Awards 2017.

The success continued with the all-new Ibiza as the model was victorious at the Red Dot Awards. The Red Dot Award is one of the most prestigious design awards in the world and especially values and seeks out quality and innovation. The achievement was recognition that the latest SEAT Ibiza has managed to integrate a young and fresh look with a mature and balanced design. To accompany this, the SEAT Ateca was rewarded for its award-winning year by receiving an updated FR look that was made available to the public.

The Ateca’s year continued to improve as we entered the winter months, where the model added yet another accolade to an already impressive collection, winning the Honest John’s Car of the Year award. This was the Ateca’s 10th major UK title in 10 months as the award was determined by the huge volume of public interest in and support for the Ateca on the honestjohn.co.uk website. The Ateca was praised for its “style, comfort and low running costs”. Here at Miller and Middleton, we were incredibly proud to have this revolutionary vehicle in our showroom and available for the public to view.

In November, the landscape of our showroom changed thanks to the arrival of the sensational new model from SEAT. The all-new small SUV, welcome the Arona. The new model born out of creativity and engineering brilliance was a statement that SEAT are prepared to break barriers and write new rules. This notion of fearlessness and innovation was backed up when SEAT revealed that they were going to be the first car manufacturer to partner with the ever-popular Amazon Alexa. The software was made available in the Ateca and Leon at the end of 2017 and will not be available in the Arona and the Ibiza during 2018.

There is no doubt that it has been a stand out year for SEAT and we are honoured that Miller and Middleton is SEAT’s leading car dealer in Essex. All of the team here cannot wait to see what 2018 will bring, make sure you take a look at our website and follow us on social media so that you can stay up to date and take advantage of all our latest offers.
