The forthcoming SEAT Ateca SUV has been scrutinised by the UK’s motoring press over the last week or so, resulting in some enthusiastic write ups.
Despite being SEAT’s first-ever SUV, the Spanish carmaker has clearly got the handling right. The Telegraph's respected motoring journalist Kyle Fortune said in his review: "the nose of the car is quick to turn in, making the Ateca one of the most agile SUVs available."
And while not every buyer will use their Ateca for off-road pleasure, the new SUV boasts impressive off-tarmac characteristics, as Fortune says: "the Ateca will scramble and clamber with as much ability as you could possibly want."
Fortune described the six-speed manual gearbox as having "a light and easy shift", while praising the driving positon.
Interior space, says Fortune, is "the class best" with ample room for taller rear passengers and a boot that can "swallow four people's luggage with ease".
Johnathan Burn of Auto Express was also impressed by the Ateca in his review, summarising by saying "It’s spacious, fun to drive and stylish, and comes at an incredibly competitive price. Hold off on that Qashqai order until you’ve tried one of these."
But in the competitive SUV market, how will the Ateca fare? The Telegraph’s Kyle Fortune believes the Ateca will be a big hit among UK consumers, saying: "When UK cars arrive in September SEAT dealers will be very busy indeed".
