The success of 2017 has continued into 2018 for SEAT as the Ibiza opens its New Year honours account in style, winning the title of Best Supermini in the UK Car of the Year Awards.
The fifth-generation of the infamous Ibiza model was branded “a cut above” by expert judges in what was a highly competitive field. In winning the award, the Ibiza has claimed the right to be considered for the overall Car of the Year title. The winner of this prestigious award is set to be announced in coming weeks.
The SEAT Ibiza made quite the impression on the awards judges and after putting the car through rigorous road-test programmes, they expressed admiration for the new car, claiming that “one of the best superminis just got even better.” The compliments continued as the new MQB Ao platform that underpins the new Ibiza earned praise for delivering an “engaging chassis that really delights”. Another judge continued to say “In a year where the supermini class upped its game, the Ibiza feels a cut above.”
Richard Harrison, SEAT UK Director, said: “The new generation Ibiza marks a watershed in the car’s history of achievement as our most successful model. With the benefit of our new modular platform and further advances in technology and driving character that define all of today’s SEAT models, we are proud to have produced a car that can take on the best in its class and win, all at a genuine great value package for the customer.”
He continued, “We’re hugely grateful to the UK Car of the Year judges for this initial title and hope that the Ibiza’s qualities can take it through to the ultimate award.”
Yet another incredible achievement for SEAT has kicked 2018 off in the best possible fashion and all of the team here at Miller and Middleton are excited for what the rest of the year will bring.
