It appears that there are exciting times on the horizon for SEAT in 2018 and beyond, with bosses confirming that introduction of six new models within the next three years.
The will be the SEAT’s greatest ever product expansion with at least half of the new models will enter segments of the motoring market that SEAT do not currently occupy.
The first all-new model expected to arrive in 2018 will be a large SUV. The model remains unnamed at this present time, however, the design is complete and the brand new model has been built to rival the Skoda Kodiaq. The large SUV market is one that SEAT will feel they can take over after the incredible success that the smaller SUV, the Ateca, enjoyed in 2017.
2018 will also be the year that SEAT prepare to take on the electric vehicle market. The all-new electric vehicle based on the VW Group’s MEB platform will undergo a rigorous design and testing procedures throughout 2018 ahead of a planned release in 2019. Bosses in charge of the vehicle's design have confirmed that the vehicle will have a range of up to 500km (310 miles).
There will also be a new look for the award-winning SEAT Leon with the design being finalised in 2018. Matthias Rabe, SEAT’s Research and Development boss, said “the styling of the car is not a revolution but it’s a big evolution, you will be able to see that it is a Leon; you won’t be able to mistake it for any car in the segment. We now have a clear, consistent product design identity.”
As well as expressing an interest in developing an electric version of the high-performance Leon Cupra model, SEAT has revealed that an Ateca Cupra will launch in 2018. The highly anticipated new model will feature four-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre TFSI engine developing around 300 bhp.
SEAT has confirmed that they will be appearing at the 88th annual Geneva Motor Show 2018 that takes place between 8th and 18th March. SEAT are also likely to appear at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2018 although dates have not yet been confirmed.
2017 was an incredible year for SEAT and all of us here at Miller and Middleton. We were privileged to have such wonderful and revolutionary vehicles grace our showroom and all of our team here are incredibly excited to see what 2018 brings.
